A Muslim woman who was at the Tommy Robinson protest has said she is "tired of the vitriol" against people of Islam.
Hundreds staged demonstrations for and against the controversial right-wing speaker who appeared at the Oxford Union on Wednesday, June 17.The 43-year-old was in the city to debate whether westerners should be "suspicious" of islam.
Widely condemned by politicians and religious leaders in the weeks leading up the debate, both the topic and its participants attracted fierce argument about freedom of speech. Oxford University student Aisha, who chose not to give her surname, was at Wednesday's march against Robinson said she is "tired" of "having to prove we are not here illegally".The 19-year-old, of Palestinian origin, said: “I am tired of the vitriol against muslims and islam, tired of trying to prove we’re not all here illegally.
