NINE members of an Islamic religious group have been arrested over allegations of sexual abuse, modern slavery and forced marriage.
Cops launched an investigation following accusations against members of Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, based in Crewe, Cheshire.

Around 500 officers raided properties in the area at around 8.50am.
This included the group’s headquarters Webb House, a former orphanage, housing some 150 people.
Cheshire Police confirmed that it has arrested three women and six men as part of an ongoing probe into the religious community.
The force have also raided two other properties in Nantwich Road and Badger Avenue, Crewe.

Allegations of serious sexual offences, forced marriage and modern slavery were first received in March, the force added.
The offences are believed to have taken place in 2023 and all involve a single female victim.
She was a member of the Ahmadi religious group – linked to a branch of Islam – at the time.
Chief Superintendent Gareth Wrigley hailed the “detailed and robust” investigation.
